ANTHRAX - DISCOGRAFIA

O Anthrax, juntamente com Metallica, Megadeth e Slayer é considerado uma das bandas responsáveis pelo surgimento e definição da sonoridade que viria a ser conhecida como Thrash Metal, formando o grupo chamado de "Os quatro grandes do Thrash" ou "Big Four".
O nome Anthrax foi tirado de um microorganismo desenvolvido para guerra bacteriológica, o Bacillus anthracis, que provoca uma doença chamada carbúnculo, que pode ser letal.
Chamaram atenção e se diferiram por combinarem o Metal com Hardcore, Punk,Hip-Hop, Industrial e Rap. São considerados também uma das bandas formadoras do gênero Rap Metal, juntamente com Rage Against The Machine e Linkin Park, entre outras.
A banda se formou em Nova York em julho de 1981 pelo guitarrista Scott Ian e pelo baixista Danny Liker (ele tocou como guitarrista no início, antes da banda se acertar).
Após algumas mudanças a formação se firmou com Neil Turbin (vocal), Dan Spitz(guitarra), Charlie Benante (bateria), além, é claro, de Scott (guitarra) e Dan Lilker (agora no baixo).
Esta foi a formação que lançou o aclamado primeiro disco, contendo clássicos,Fistful Of Metal saiu na virada de 1983/84, sendo marco na formação do estilo Thrash.
O fundador Lilker saiu e o então roadie da banda Frank Bello assumiu o baixo. Joey Belladonna assume os vocais, lançando em 1985 o EP Armed And Dangerous, garantindo um contrato com a Island Records. No mesmo ano veio Spreading The Disease, marcando com mais clássicos.
Nessa época o guitarrista Scott Ian se juntou com o baterista Charlie Benante e ao ex-membro Danny Liker e formaram uma banda paralela, chamada Stormtroopers Of Death, ou simplesmente SOD, como ficou conhecida.
1986 foi tomado por apresentações e turnês, saindo no início de 1987 o terceiro álbum, considerado por muitos como melhor da banda e indiscutivelmente um dos maiores clássicos do Thrash Metal: Among the Living. No mesmo ano tocaram noDonington's Monsters Of Rock e lançaram um EP chamado I'm The Man, misturando Rap em tom de deboche, contendo a versão original da música título e a censurada, além de um cover de "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" do Black Sabbath e performances ao vivo.
Em 1988 é lançado mais um LP: State Of Euphoria, além de outro EP: Penikufesin.
Durante a gravação de Persistence Of Time o estúdio da banda entrou em chamas, lançando o disco em 1990, mantendo o peso, porém considerado sem graça pela crítica, contudo eu, particularmente, gosto dele.
